Wednesday art apology

Last week, one of my Wednesday students got under my skin as she was showing a lot of 'princess' attitude. As the class was wrapping up I let one of the kids know that her behaviour was unacceptable and she needs to treat people better in future. I've taught her before and she's a good student but recently she was developing a bit of an attitude. As I've posted before, this class is a lot of fun and always produces something interesting so whatever craziness goes on in class I always let it slide. I immediately forgot about last week as soon as the class finished. I came to the classroom yesterday and was greeted by more artwork, an apology and another incorrect spelling of my name!

More Wednesday art class

More Wednesday fun from one of my classes who are never boring or tired by student life in Korea. Each week I am 'surprised' by these students who have the lights turned off before I get to the classroom. I open the door and some kids are hiding, dancing, singing and shouting. One girl has taken a liking to poking me in the belly and calling me Big Man. And there are always these sketches on the board. At least they spell my name right.

Wednesday art class

My Wednesday schedule alternates from being the worst day of the week to the most entertaining depending on what my boss decides. At it's worst it is both a waste of time for myself and the students. It is based on either speaking classes with some TOFEL thrown in sometimes. They usually don't want to be there and put in only the bare minimum effort. At it's best, I can't get a word in because the kids are so talkative. Right now, Wednesdays are a lot of fun. One class refuses to take things seriously and mocks me throughout. Which I'm OK with because it's largely in English and to be honest is done in a very funny way. They love singing and dancing and just having fun. They especially love drawing pictures on the whiteboard before class - at least they get my name right. Here is some more student art.

Student Art

If there's one thing my students love to do, it's ignoring me and putting pen to paper, or desk or hand. Often they idle away their time by writing things down. At times mocking me or just trying to get my attention and also expressing their love for the latest Teenage Korean Pop Sensation. From time to time they draw pictures, sometimes they give them to me and sometimes they refuse to let me anywhere near them. It is almost automatic or instinctive for them, they cannot stop doing it. I used to take no notice of them and throw them away but now I find them very funny, especially if they are small notes, which amuse me greatly. Here are some of the 'presents' that I've received recently.

Usually for my first class of the day I take a coffee into the lesson with me and drink it when I have chance.


One of my classes doesn't approve of the coffee and always demands that I stop drinking. They're just jealous.


Apparently that is what my dog would/does look like. Lovely, apparently.
