Student confession

I have one student who is - as all the others who've taught him will say - one of the worst students in my academy. He rarely brings his book to writing class. Even rarer still are the days he brings in his homework. He spends most of his free time after classes in the retest room. At times he is a real pain, distracting others whilst making it hard to teach the way I would like and the way the class needs to be taught.

But, having been his teacher for a long time -about a year in total - I actually hate to admit it but I think he is pretty funny. He is not the brightest in class but often says the funniest things, often at the right time. Ironically his actions make the class a lot more fun that it might ordinarily be.

Today is presentation day and of course he didn't do his homework. I gave him help and enough time to practice but before he was due he held his head in his hands and came out with this.

"Why me? I am loser. I am life loser!"

You had to be there but once again he had the class in stitches.

Crazy laughs in the classroom

I walked into my third class today and straight away burst out laughing. I was in stitches for a long time just looking at one of my favourite students. He was wearing a cap/balaclava. He looked like a terrorist. I joked about the gun he should have. He then pulled out a replica luger. It may not sound funny but it was priceless. Perfect comic timing. I couldn't resist taking a few snaps before trying on his hat. And then class rolled on. Some Korean kids have an, at times, unhealthy obsession with guns. This I let slide because it was a joke that was poking no fun at anyone. And it was pretty funny at the time.

Sticks and stones: North Korea takes on Hillary Clinton

When North Korea speaks, the world listens. Partly because they are unstable and as a country are insane but also because nearly everything that is pumped out of their propaganda machine is hilarious. You can always rely on them to come out with something entertaining especially when responding to criticism (mainly from America).

Following another comment on the almost total isolation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the guys from the North drop a bombshell on the Obama administration. Clinton's comment: "There is no place to go for North Korea; they have no friends left that will protect them from the international community's efforts to move towards denuclearisation."

This came this from one of a North Korean spokesmen. "Her words suggest that she is by no means intelligent. Sometimes she looks like a primary schoolgirl and sometimes a pensioner going shopping. Anyone making misstatements has to pay for them."

So there you are, take that Clinton and Obama. Kapow - North Korean style. How can she recover from the mortally wounding blow of being called a pensioner AND a schoolgirl. I look forward to hearing more from Pyongyang in the future. Entertaining as always.
